Special Needs Transportation

  • Special Needs Transportation provides curb to curb pick-up and drop-off services. New students to Special Needs Transportation can take up to 72 hours to process.

All Special Needs buses are equipped with a seat belt for each student, which each student is required to wear. Students are expected to stay in their assigned seat (with seatbelt fastened) until the bus comes to a complete stop at their home or school.

In the event that no one is home, and the student is not authorized to be left alone, the driver will notify the office and record the location and time of arrival. The school of origin will be notified that the bus is returning the student to the school. The parent will then need to make arrangements to pick up their child.

    Parent’s Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the parents/guardian to:

Inform the school, bus driver, and monitor of any medical condition or behavior which could help us better assist your child and/or affect the student’s safety or health on the bus.

Assure that an authorized person will be at the bus stop, on time, to receive the child.

Assure that the student meets the bus at the scheduled time. The bus driver will wait for 3 minutes then proceed with the route. Waiting longer creates late pick-up times and late arrival to school for other students. The driver will not honk their horn or go to the door.

Parents/guardians shall not send students to the bus with food or drink to be consumed on the bus.

Inform the school of any address or telephone numbers as soon as the information is available. If the address change requires rescheduling, it could take up to 72 hours to process.

Parents/guardians are to notify the transportation office when their child is not going to ride the bus.
