Grades 1-5 Credit by Exam Grade Acceleration Options

According to Texas Administrative Code and Argyle ISD Policy, a student in grades 1-5 who scores 80% or above on a criterion-referenced test in each one of the four content areas without prior instruction may be advanced one grade level for all course subjects. The student must score 80% or above for the grade level to be skipped in each of the following areas: language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Placement in a new grade level will only occur prior to the start of a new school year, regardless of when the credit by examination for acceleration is requested or administered. 

Grades 6-12 Credit by Exam Subject Acceleration Options

According to Texas Administrative Code and Argyle ISD Policy, if a student in grades 6-12 scores 80% or above on a criterion-referenced test, the district shall enter the examination score on the student's transcript.

In order to receive credit by examination for a specific course, credit must be earned prior to the start of a new school year in which the student would ordinarily be required to enroll in that course, in accordance with the district's prescribed course sequence that the student must satisfactorily complete to receive credit. Placement in a new course will only occur prior to the start of a new school year or regardless of when the credit by examination for acceleration is requested or administered.

A student may not attempt to earn credit by examination for a specific high school course more than two times. A student may not take any CBE twice within the same testing window.

Argyle ISD will provide CBE testing only on the dates listed below; there are no exceptions.
